About Me

Dave And Tina SadowsHey there, I’m Dave Sadows and if you’re reading this, you’ve probably realized that staying fit and feeling good after fifty isn’t as simple as it used to be. You wake up some mornings and discover muscles you didn’t know you had. Sometimes, they’re yelling at you for reasons that remain a complete mystery.

Here’s the deal: I’m a 50-year-old husband to Tina (the real boss of the house) and proud dad to my two amazing daughters, Brooklyn and Scarlet. They keep me on my toes, whether it’s with their endless energy, questionable TikTok dance moves, or their uncanny ability to find the one snack I’ve been hiding in the pantry. My family is my everything and, honestly, a big part of why I care so much about staying healthy and strong.

I started StayingFitPastFifty.com because, like a lot of guys my age, I got tired of fitness advice that either assumed I wanted to train for the Olympics or that I was ready for a rocking chair. Most of us are somewhere in between: we want to keep up with our families, enjoy life, and maybe even surprise ourselves with what we can still do. And we want advice that’s honest, practical, and – let’s face it – a little bit funny. If you can’t laugh at yourself as you try to touch your toes these days, you’re missing half the fun.

Fitness, health, and wellness have always mattered to me, but they took on a new urgency when I faced my own cancer scare. I won’t sugarcoat it: treatment is tough. There were days when just getting out of bed felt like an Olympic event. But I’m stubborn, a little too competitive for my own good, and surrounded by the most supportive crew you could ask for. My doctors think I’m on track for a full recovery. If anything, the experience made me even more determined to help others stay active, strong, and positive no matter what curveballs life throws your way.

On this site, you’ll find straightforward tips on workouts, nutrition, and staying mentally sharp. No hype, no magic pills. Just real talk from a guy who knows what it’s like to balance work, family, and the realities of an aging body. And because I firmly believe that fitness should be fun (or at least not torture), you’ll get a healthy dose of wit and humor, too.

So whether you’re looking to build strength, recover from setbacks, or just want to keep up with the grandkids without pulling a hamstring, you’re in the right place. We’re all in this together – and trust me, it’s a lot more fun when you have good company.

Pull up a chair (but not for too long, let’s keep moving!), say hello, and let’s prove that “over fifty” is just another way of saying “just getting started.”

Stay strong,
Dave
